Van Gogh’s ‘The Yellow House’

This arrived today from Ellu, my Italian friend from Interpals. She’s currently spending some time in Amsterdam where she’s sent me this card from the Van Gogh Museum. Its a beautiful piece of artwork, and its lovely that she thought of me whilst on holiday!

Peace and Love from Belarus

This stunning card from Nina in Belarus arrived today. The picture is of St Anthony of Padua Church in Pastavy. I love the brightness of this card, it’s so cheerful! On the back Nina tells me how she’s always wanted to visit London, and sends ‘peace, love and only the best wishes’ to my boyfriend and me. Lovely card!

A Shared Postcard

This card from Fowey, Cornwall, arrived yesterday. It’s actually to me and my boyfriend as it’s from his mother who’s on a painting course in Cornwall. I love south England, so this picture makes me hope I can get down there some time this summer!

Chernivtsi University

This beautiful card of Chernivtsi University in the Ukraine, was sent as part of a private swap with Karina, who tells me that it was recently added to UNESCO. The rest of the card is very friendly and chatty, she asks about the novel I have written and thanks me for the card I sent her. It also came in a really pretty envelope! Lovely surprise!

Postcard From A Medic

This short but sweet postcard comes from Pawel, a medical student in Poland. He doesn’t say much else on the back, apart from that he studies in Lodz. It also seems medics’ handwriting is the same everywhere in the world!

Canadian Bison

This stunning card was a lovely surprise when I arrived home late last night. Sent from James (in a swap arranged over Interpals), this beautiful picture shows his local national park – Riding Mountain in Manitoba, Canada. He tells me how he plans to go and photograph  the bison herd later this year. I’m jealous he gets to see such beautiful animals in the wild! Although he does say, he’s never seen any before! Gorgeous card!

Statues in Kiev

Here’s a nice card from Alisa in the Ukraine, showing some eye-catching statues in her town of Kiev. On the back she tells me how she used to dream of being an archaeologist, and has included a cute smiley-face sticker. Very cheerful!

A Dutch Wild Boar (And Its Piglets!)

Here’s a gorgeous picture from Cherri in the Netherlands. It shows wild boar in the national park near to where she lives. I really like “traditional” European wildlife, and the boar is one of my favourites, especially this cute picture with its babies! Lovely card!

The Russian Sea

This beautiful card has journeyed 22 days from Irina in Russia to reach my mailbox. It shows the Baltic Sea and what I think is a pier under construction. I love the rugged, wild look of the sea, it reminds me of the British coast in late autumn! On the back, she tells me how she used to want to be an archaeologist too – Indiana Jones inspired! Well, archaeology isn’t quite as Indiana Jones-esque as people are led to believe, but I don’t blame her! It is a great discipline!

An Elephant Sunset

This stunningly beautiful card is from Doris, in Germany. As I’ve mentioned before, I have a real soft spot for elephants. The photo is really spectacular! On the back, Doris tells me about her town Augsburg, and a little about herself. Really lovely!
