My First From The Philippines!

This spectacular landscape card was sent to me by Frances in the Philippines. She greets me with “Mabuhay!”and tells me she thinks her country is the most beautiful and natural in the world. Judging by this photo, I’d say its certainly up there! The amount of green is amazing!

A Familiar Friend (And Spooky Coincidence)

This gorgeous Beatrix Potter postcard comes from Melissa in Ireland who bought it at the British Museum whilst in London recently. Its interesting she should choose to send it to me, since when I first started postcrossing in February, I bought the exact same card from there, coincidentally I only sent it out this week on the 29th of March. Spookily, her date on the card shows that is when she sent this one out to me! A lovely coincidence and a beautiful card, one that clearly always intended to stay in my collection!!

A Portuguese Postcard

This postcard of the Fatima Basilica interestingly comes from someone called Fatima in Portugal. She’s written in Portuguese however, and although google translate has given me a rough idea that she speaks of peace and religion in relation to this church, I can’t quite grasp the entire message – a fun enigma for me! Lovely card with a pretty picture!

A Wisconsin Brewery

This card comes from Rachel in Wisconsin and is from her hometown of Milwaukee. Her message is short and cheerful, just saying hello and I really like the vintage imagery.

A Beautiful German Multi-View

This cute card comes from Stefan in Cloppenburg, Germany. He tells me how he enjoys origami as a hobby, as well as (obviously) postcrossing and that he has a cat called Lucy. A really simple, yet lovely card. Its amazing how ‘English’ a lot of these scenes (except the bottom left of course!) look!

The Last Supper

This beautiful card comes from penpal Ellu in Italy showing the familiar da Vinci Last Supper scene. She’s attached  gorgeous stamp and says it’ll be the last card before we meet up (due to happen in less than 2 weeks!) can’t wait!!

A Card From My Legica

This really beautiful card comes from penpal Mirna in Croatia. It came as part of a parcel in which she also sent some ‘lega-lega’ coasters. On the card she explains that lega is an expression used only in Osijek (her town) meaning ‘friend’ (with legica being the feminine form) and lega-lega is a local brand-name so the coasters are totally unique to her town. What an amazing gift! It was such an awesome surprise! She also tells me this postcard is a reprint of a 1910 postcard of Osijek, showing the old part of the town, built in the 17th-18th century. Really beautiful and a great surprise!

My First From Malaysia

This really stunning card comes from Catherine in Malaysia and shows the Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur which, she tells me, were the tallest buildings in the world between 1999 and 2004. She tells me she’s excited about the Olympics and wishes she were in London for it. A really chatty and friendly card!

Snuffkin Plays a Tune

Snuffkin is probably my favourite Moomins character, so I was really happy to receive this adorable card yesterday from Gertrud in Finland showing him playing his pipe. On the back, Gertrud lists features of Finland: the thousand lakes, saunas, Santa, two languages and the Moomins. She also says she likes nature, reading and theatre. Sweet card!

Polar Bears!

This very cute card comes from Russian Oxana, showing two polar bears at Moscow zoo. There’s something very heartwarming and funny about this image and I particularly like the laid-back relaxation the bear on the left is showing. Adorable!
