The World On My Doorstep

An ever-expanding postcard blog

Saxon Switzerland

on January 5, 2014

postcards1_2_2This wonderful card comes from David in Germany and shows the national park of Saxon Switzerland, which I must admit I had never heard of before, but having researched it for this blog post, I now have serious wanderlust for! Saxon Switzerland is unsurprisingly popular with hikers and tourists and forms part of the Elbe Sandstone mountains. It is situated not far from Dresden and is literally teeming with medieval castles, high peaks and deep hollows to explore. Centrally, you can see the famous Bastei bridge, built to enable tourists to cross the rocks in the 1800s (replacing a previous wooden bridge – eek!). Amazing card, thank you David!
