The World On My Doorstep

An ever-expanding postcard blog

A Czech Castle From France!

This beautiful picture of Karlstein Castle in the Czech Republic was actually sent to me from David in France, who had kindly chosen this card after seeing a picture of it in my favourites list on postcrossing! He tells me about his city of Lyon, and that he visited the Czech Republic last Christmas. A really friendly and cheerful card – I love it!

Old Town Prague

Here is a spectacular view of the Old Town area of Prague, sent from Zoleňka in the Czech Republic. I really want to visit Prague one day and pictures showing architecture as beautiful as this only encourage me, although she does say on the back that it is full of tourists (no surprises there). I also love the black and white effect, making it look even more iconic.

A Favourite Photo

This is one of my favourite postcard images. Its so simple, yet so colourful and full of history and culture. Sent from Ellu in 2011 on a visit to the Czech Republic, it shows Charles Bridge and the castle. The message is short and sweet, just talking about her broken foot and our separate holidays.
