An Overdose of Cutes!

BabyCheetahWonderful Ruky  sent me this adorable card from South Africa and he tells me that every time he sees this postcard in the store it makes him think of me. All I can say is – WHY didn’t you send it before, Ruhan?! It’s just too adorable! Its little face just looks so cute (but also cheeky in that “I just farted but I’m totally pulling this cute face so you won’t get angry” kind of way). He also says that his dad agreed that it should be sent to me and so, eventually, it made its way to little old Guernsey with a surprise lovely long letter. My heart melted. Love it!

Two Very Different Cards!

uluruCountryBumsThese two cards come from Aga in Australia. The first card is probably a new favourite of mine from the country – I just love the colours in the photograph! Aga tells me that Uluru and the Olgas really do change colour every minute during sunrise and sunset and that it is one of the most beautiful things she’s ever seen in her life. It looks it! It is honestly stunning! The second card is, of course, part of my awful postcard challenge! Aga wonders who was responsible for this company’s artistic department – I have to agree! Although it is very funny! She tells me that Moree is famous for its heating baths. Very cool cards. It’s also worth pointing out that in the place where the stamp should be stuck on the Uluru card (luckily Aga has stuck the stamp elsewhere, so I was able to see this amazing fact), it states “Did you know – the world’s first postcard was issued in Vienna on 1-10-1869”. I did not know actually! So interesting!

Another Antarctica!

AntarcticaPenguinsThis beautiful card comes from Dieter in Germany and I can’t believe how lucky I am to receive it! He tells me that he worked in the O’Higgins (German) Scientific Base in Antarctica in 1997 as an operator at the 9m radiotelescope which receives data about the Earth’s rotation and movement of its tectonic plates. He has also sent me a link to a site where you can watch the penguins on a webcam between November and January. To make this card even better, it even has old rubber ink stamp prints on it from Dieter’s base! LOVE this card!

An Estonian Maxicard

EstoniaMaxiThis wonderful card comes from Maj in FInland who tells me she bought this awesome maxicard in Estonia recently. She also mentions she has two grandchildren, the youngest only got her name (Venla) last week! Apparently the name is from Finnish literature – adorable! Her grandson is called Lukas, which is a gorgeous name too.

Polar Bears

PolarBearsWildThis cute little card arrived with me a little while ago but I’ve been super busy with work so haven’t been able to update in a while. It comes from Anke in Bavaria, Germany. She tells me she loves to read – specifically crime and erotica – and that travelling and cooking are also favourite pastimes of hers. Lovely card!

F is For…

Fox&FruitFlyAnother awful postcard to add to the collection! I love this, it’s hilariously bad! All the way from Narelle and Hope in Australia, Narelle tells me that she hopes I find it as terrible as she does – definitely! I just love how grim the fruit fly is! She tells me her favourite names are Hope and Blane – the names of her children. Lovely!
